USPS implements Plan B process during peak season

On November 6, 2021, the Postal Service implemented a process titled Plan B for the 2021 peak season in an effort to maximize parcel delivery and provide the best possible service to customers. Similar to previous years, in offices across the nation, letter carriers will deliver parcels between 6 a.m. and  – 9 a.m. USPS hopes to deliver approximately 15% of all parcels daily during this morning window. In 54 select delivery units, drop shipment parcels will be redirected to 38 Package Delivery Centers (parcel annexes). In the annexes, USPS will create dynamic routes, similar to Sunday delivery and letter carriers will deliver the parcels directly from the annexes. Carriers in the involved delivery units will deliver letters, flats and network parcels. The Plan B Process will be in effect through January 31, 2022.
