Congress releases 2018 calendar

Congress released its full 2018 calendar today, with the image below showing the combined House-Senate schedule for 2018. Take a moment to note the dates legislators will be out of DC and likely back home. Many Senators and Representatives will hold town hall meetings (find out here at the Town Hall Project) and other events during these breaks, and will meet in-person with their constituents.

Letter carriers can stay active and engaged with our members by using such holidays and recesses as opportunities to talk about what's important to us as federal employees and our families. Mark your calendars so you can plan to speak with your legislators too.

Of note, the Senate will be in session 51 days in 2018 in which the House will be out. The House, meanwhile, will be in session exactly zero days when the Senate is out.
