Souvenir PhotoStamps commemorate 25th Food Drive.
NALC is pleased to join the American Philatelic Society as the APS unveils a commemorative PhotoStamps sheet for the 25th anniversary of the Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger® Food Drive.
The personalized souvenir sheet, printed by PhotoStamps, is available for purchase now via the new Stamp Out Hunger online store.
The PhotoStamps also will be available starting Saturday, March 4, at AmeriStamp Expo, one of the country’s largest annual stamp and postal history shows.
The show will be held at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center in Reno, NV.
The souvenir sheet features some of the iconic Stamp Out Hunger campaign artwork designed by Family Circus comic strip artists Bil and Jeff Keane. Jeff Keane will join representatives from NALC to dedicate this personalized postage at a special ceremony at 11 a.m. on March 4.
The Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is held on the second Saturday each May and is the nation’s largest single-day food drive. This year’s Food Drive will be on Saturday, May 13. Letter carriers, assisted by countless volunteers, will collect bags of non-perishable food donations on that day as they deliver mail along their postal routes.
National Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive partners this year are the U.S. Postal Service, National Rural Letter Carriers’ Association, United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW), United Way Worldwide, AFL-CIO, AARP Foundation, Valpak and Valassis.
Last year’s drive collected a record 80.1 million pounds of food, to replenish food pantries, food banks and shelters from coast to coast, bringing the overall amount of food collected since the drive began to 1.5 billion pounds.
AmeriStamp Expo will take place March 3 through March 5 in the Reno-Sparks Convention Center at 4590 South Virginia St. in Reno, Nevada. Show hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free and open to the public. Details are available on the show’s website.
