NALC is deeply saddened to learn of the death of Janette Dolabson, vice president of Van Nuys, CA Branch 2462, on Feb. 22, 2025, at the age of 64.
A proud member of NALC for 36 years, Sister Dolabson’s tireless work to support her community and fellow letter carriers led her to many roles within her union. She began her service as a shop steward in 1994, a role she held until her passing. In 1999, she took on the responsibility of leading Branch 2462's Stamp Out Hunger food drive, and in 2016, she stepped up to the role of Region 1 Food Drive Coordinator.
Sister Dolabson also served as a health benefits representative from 2004 to 2008, and again from 2023 to 2024. In 2008, she was elected vice president of Branch 2462, and in 2015, she became branch president, serving until 2023. In 2024, she once again assumed the role of vice president.
Janette is survived by her husband, Larry; her daughter, Mikayla; and numerous friends and family members. Her legacy will be remembered for her unwavering commitment to her fellow letter carriers, as well as her leadership in organizing successful Stamp Out Hunger food drives both within her branch and across the region.
“Sister Janette’s dedication to the NALC and her legacy of service will not be forgotten by those who had the privilege of working alongside her,” said NALC President Brian L. Renfroe. “Our heartfelt condolences go out to her family, friends, and fellow letter carriers.”
