NALC was saddened to learn of the passing of Lloyd Nash Pearson, Jr. on Dec. 23, 2023. Brother Pearson was a 75-year member of Jacksonville, FL Branch 53. He was 102 years old.
Lloyd was a Navy Reservist and began his postal career a few months after Pearl Harbor. He was involved in his branch throughout his time as an active and retired letter carrier, attending and collecting medals from 20 NALC National Conventions.
In addition to his activity as a NALC member, Lloyd served as a community leader and practiced a life-long commitment to advancing civil rights. He attended numerous NAACP civil rights marches, including the March on Washington in 1963 and 50th Anniversary of the March in 2013, and chaired the Jacksonville NAACP’s voter registration drive for many years.
Lloyd is survived by his three daughters, two sons, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
