Recent on-duty letter carrier deaths

NALC is deeply saddened to learn of two letter carriers who recently died while on duty.

Shirley Knight died on May 12 after a fall that occurred while on duty. Sister Knight was a letter carrier for 29 years and a member of Chicago, IL Branch 11. She was 55. 

Houssein Salameh died on May 27 after suffering from a heart attack while on duty. Brother Salameh began his career as a letter carrier in 2019. He was a member of New York City Branch 36. He was 40. 

“NALC mourns the losses of Shirley Knight and Houssein Salameh,” NALC President Fredric Rolando said. “We send our condolences to their families, friends and colleagues.”
