USPS announces deployment of the Mercedes Metris right-hand drive commercial off-the-shelf vehicles into the delivery fleet. Approximately 17,310 vehicles over the next three years, beginning in May 2020 and continuing through September 2022. Of the 4,092 Metris vehicles scheduled for deployment in 2020, approximately 3,392 will be assigned to city delivery routes.  Approximately 3,700 of these vehicles will be assigned for city delivery in 2021.  USPS has not yet determined the number which will be assigned to city routes from the 8,813 vehicles scheduled for deployment in 2022.

Additionally, USPS will purchase and deploy new Promaster vehicles to replace 2008 Uplander (5,819) and 2009 Caravan (1,341) vehicles.
