Postal Service 1st quarter results release date announced (updated)

Mark your calendars: The Postal Service will report its first fiscal quarter results (the period from Oct. 2014 through Dec. 2014) on Friday Feb. 6.

The Temporary Emergency Committee of the Board of Governors session in Washington, DC, will begin at 8:30 a.m. that day, and it will include an overview of the financial results. The Temporary Emergency Committee is the body that assumed most of the responsibilities of the Board of Governors when the Board lost its quorum last year. Postal Service management is likely to hold a press call later in the day to discuss the results. The time for that is to be announced.

The first quarter of the year, near the winter holidays, is often the best quarter for USPS, and this year so far the Postal Service’s operating results look great.

Stay tuned to see how well the Postal Service has built this quarter on the $1.4 billion operating profit it generated for the full year last year.

On Feb. 6, we will review the report and let you know about the results.

UPDATE: Following the TEC’s open meeting on Feb. 6, Postmaster General Megan J. Brennan and Chief Financial Officer Joe Corbett will host a telephone/web conference call to discuss the financial results in more detail. The call will begin at 11 a.m. ET and is open to the news media and all other interested parties.
