Chicago, IL Branch 11 Director of Retirees Peter J. Skrzypczynski dies

NALC is deeply saddened to learn of the death of Peter J. Skrzypczynski, an officer of Chicago, IL Branch 11 on March 19, 2025. He was 75.

Skrzypczynski began his career as a letter carrier in 1973 and was a member of the NALC for more than 50 years. He served Branch 11 in a variety of roles, including director of retirees, assistant secretary-treasurer, recording secretary, health benefits representative, editor, shop steward and unofficial photographer.

He was known for helping fellow carriers prepare for retirement through numerous seminars and one-on-one counseling sessions.

“Whatever position Pete held, he performed his duties with the highest level of esteem and commitment to all members of Branch 11,” his fellow NALC members shared.

Skrzypczynski was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Barbara. He is survived by his daughter, Sonia; his son, Peter; and three grandchildren.

“Throughout his career, Brother Skrzypczynski was a tireless advocate for letter carriers and a respected leader in the NALC,” said President Brian L. Renfroe. “His devotion to Branch 11 and his union family leaves a lasting legacy. Our thoughts are with his family and all who knew him.”
