Sadly, NALC has learned that Alex De Mateo, Branch 70 member and La Mesa, CA letter carrier was involved in a vehicle accident while delivering his route on Tuesday, April 7 and passed away later that day at the hospital. He was 59 years old.

“The entire NALC mourns the loss of Brother De Mateo," NALC President Fredric Rolando said. "Alex lost his life while faithfully serving his customers. He would have celebrated 31 remarkable years as a letter carrier on April 22, and we are heartbroken by his sudden and unfortunate passing. We send our thoughts and prayers to Alex’s sister, the rest of his family, friends, coworkers, and loved ones.”
