About the Auxiliary

Since 1905, NALCA has helped fight battles in Congress and other areas for the betterment of letter carrier families and the United States Postal Service. Our continued success is enhanced by the hard work and growing membership of Auxiliary locals throughout the country.

Mission Statement

The NALC Auxiliary's mission is to support and promote the objectives, the political activities and the charities of the National Association of Letter Carriers, AFL-CIO.

Vision Statement

  • First, actively influence legislation that will be friendly to letter carrier issues.
  • Second, endorse charitable support.
  • Third, promote the image of the letter carrier.

Objectives of the Auxiliary

  • Increase legislative activity through phone banks, fund-raising for political campaigns and the Committee on Letter Carrier Political Education (COLCPE), hosting legislative speakers, registering voters and encouraging them to vote.

  • Promote the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).

  • Become 100 percent organized.  Build our membership and activity by sponsoring retirees' dinners; organizing joint NALC/NALCA memorial services; holding summer picnics for families, children's Christmas parties, and Easter parties for union families; assisting union families in case of death or serious illness.

  • Be active in community affairs on behalf of the letter carriers and the NALC. Some activities include collecting food, working at food banks, adopting needy families or women's shelters, aiding the Salvation Army, participating in Adopt-a-School or Festival of Trees programs.

We Care—We Share: In support of COLCPE

All Auxiliary members are asked to join the We Care—We Share Club. For a $50 donation, you can become a member and help raise money for legislative and political activities, including the Committee on Letter Carrier Political Education (COLCPE).

The Auxiliary raised more than $8,000 in 2006 through the Club to support and encourage the legislative and political activities of the NALC. These activities are aimed at improving the lives of both active and retired letter carriers and their families.

We Care—We Share Club members were honored for their support at the Auxiliary convention in the summer of 2006 in Las Vegas. Please be an activist and help the Auxiliary's continuing efforts by joining the Club as soon as possible.

Thanks for sending your $50 donation to: Marie Rasmussen, NALCA Secretary, 3136 Elderberry Road, Racine, WI 53402.

Support our goals and objectives by becoming an NALCA member.
