"NALC is the union of letter carriers, and our responsibility is to represent people as letter carriers. All members
have the right to vote as they please.
But for those of you who care most about
your job, your standard of living or the future
of the Postal Service, we urge you to follow
the NALC’s lead and work to elect the candidates
we endorse. " —NALC President Fredric Rolando
In every election season, the NALC must examine every congressional race to decide which candidates will best serve the interests of our members. Throughout this process, NALC President Fredric Rolando reviews the legislative and political records of every potential candidate to be endorsed. The president also relies heavily on the political insight of our state legislative chairs, congressional district liaisons and branch presidents before making his final
decision. Our endorsed candidates have proven their support for our members and our issues. We encourage all of our members and their families to support these candidates in November.
Note: There are a few House and Senate races where NALC has elected to not make an endorsement this election cycle.

Special fliers/mailers
NALC has created special mailers for Election 2012 that you can download and use as fliers. In the top row are fliers for the presidential election only—one for states with early voting and one for states that only have voting on Nov, 6. The remaining fliers were created for specially-targeted Senate campaigns. NOTE: These fliers should be distributed only while you are off the clock, out of uniform, and away from Postal Service property.
Use the map below to find out about NALC's endorsed candidates in your state, to locate where you can volunteer for Labor 2012 activities, and to learn whether you can vote early in your state. Questions about early voting timeframes or absentee ballot request deadlines? Contact your local election office.
Become an NALC e-Activist. Join tens of thousands of your brothers and sisters to make your voices heard! Check out Can I Vote.org. Need help with voting? This nonpartisan website was created by state election officials to help eligible voters figure out how and where to go vote. Get registered to vote or check your registration info. Find your polling place. Learn what kind of ID you need to bring. Find out about absentee and early voting. And learn about the candidates.
Visit the AFL-CIO's Voters' Rights page. The right to vote is a cornerstone of our country’s democracy. Ordinary men and women fought—and even died—to gain voting rights and to protect people’s right to vote without intimidation or obstruction. Yet states across the country continue to pass restrictive voter ID and voter suppression laws. These attempts to reduce access to the polls and make citizens meet unnecessary requirements for voting should be seen as nothing less than an attack on our fundamental freedoms. Learn about your rights and about voter registration in your state. Learn about the myths and facts about voter ID laws. Check your voter registration status. And learn six steps to protect your vote on Election Day.
Vote early. Visit the Early Voting Information Center's early voting calendar to find out just how early you can cast your vote in the general election. EVIC is a non-partisan academic research center based at Reed College in Portland, OR.

Contribute to COLCPE
COLCPE is NALC's political action fund
helps elect friends
of letter carriers
(for NALC members only).
Active and retired members can contribute automatically from their bank account via Electronic Fund Transfer. Instructions
Retired members can contribute directly from their OPM annuities. Instructions
By making a donation to the Committee on Letter Carrier Political Education (COLCPE), you do so voluntarily with the understanding that your monthly contribution is not a condition of membership in the National Association of Letter Carriers nor of employment by the U.S. Postal Service, nor is it a part of union dues. Guideline amounts are merely suggestions, and you may
contribute more, less or nothing at all without advantage, disadvantage or reprisal.
COLCPE uses the money it receives to contribute to candidates for federal office and undertake
other political spending as permitted by law.
Only NALC members, NALC executive and administrative staff and their immediate household family members may contribute to COLCPE.
Contributions to COLCPE are not deductible for federal income tax purposes.
