Bringing our message to New York, Kansas
Sept. 26, 2011 -- The Postal Service would not be in the financial mess that it’s in if Congress had not required it to set aside funds for retiree health benefits for countless employees who have not yet been hired—or in some cases, born. That's the message NALC President Fredric V. Rolando brought to The Buffalo News Sept. 24 in a visit to that city that combined a retirement dinner with media interviews about the future of the Postal Service.
Also on Sept. 24, a story in The Salina Journal about the Save America's Postal Service rallies featured some informed commentary by Kansas State President Rod Holub and Salina Br. 486 President Brad Johnson about the Postal Service's financial situation—and some common-sense solutions.
