How Should U.S. Postal Service's Financial Problems Be Fixed?

Sept. 6, 2011 -- An estimated 3 million Americans saw NALC President Fredric V. Rolando take part in a lively discussion about the USPS Tuesday night on "PBS NewsHour." Rolando repeatedly drove home the notion that the Postal Service isn't broke, but simply needs access to its own funds, which Congress can readily provide, if it acts. He also told host Gwen Ifill that the solution is giving the Postal Service its own money, not cutting services in ways that will hurt the American people and hurt the Postal Service's business future. Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe also participated in the discussion.
